When it rains on a house with no gutter the run off from the roof falls next to the foundation and can easily find its way into the basement where it can cause damage to finished basement areas, or cause mildew and unpleasant damp smells. With the gutter system installed the run-off from the roof is channeled along the eaves to a downspout in one location and not along the entire foundation. If required an extension can be put in place on the down spout to add more distance from the foundation so effects of rainwater are further minimized.
Run-off can also cause ground erosion directly below the edges of the roof. Water collects and the amount increases as it cascades down to the edge and falls off.
Gutters above entrances save home owners and visitors from getting doused with chilling water dripping from above as they enter.
